The Official 2nd Gen RAM Forum OT thread
I would have probably run across someone who knew for sure where I originally posted this but I guess shiny new cb radios, back up vehicles and automatic running boards are more relevant than my donor vehicle and the differences in the donor and the recipient. Crazy thing tech, non-tech and other $h!t.
made it run on 3-cylinders
3-cylinder high-idle - YouTube
right at about 25 seconds into the video you can hear it switch from 6 to 3 cylinders lol...
the video does it no justice at all though, in person it REALLY sounds bad
sounds like a big kubota 3 banger tractor
for those wondering: it is perfectly normal operation for a cummins in sub zero temps.
In my case I used an IAT fooler to trick the engine into thinking it was below 0*F outside thus activating the build in 3-cylinder high-idle warmup mode.

So what's the point? Faster warm up during non-subzero temps?
lol I turned phone quality down so I could send it via text...didn't work so well
too big to text still...no worries next one will be 1080p
warms the truck up in 1/2 the time.
shutting down 3 cylinders creates an artificial load on the engine. more load = more heat

I wouldn't know, it doesn't get cold enough down here to warrant warming up most of the time.
