low octane with higher compression or lean fuel mix causes ping. timing being off a bit can cause it too.

or you can just be getting a ticking sound from your tappets while your oil is cold and thick not reaching them fast enough to provide adequate lubrication.

Nope, truck was hot, and I know what lifter tick sounds like. This is pinging. It only started recently. I bet it's the up and down of the temperatures making excess water in my gas...

I run nothing but premium in my dirtbikes.

the S10 is a gutless wonder so it gets regular with the occasional tank of premium when it's cheap enough.

most premium still has that horrible ethanol shat they force us to put in our gas tanks.

Why did the pure station have to close

I'll probably get a can of Seafoam and dump that in their and see if it fixes it. I think it's water to be honest.

Only pure station my area is about 40 miles away.

Anybody know if a dual in/out muffler mixes the exhaust gases?
