DodgeGirl, If you have the same sound with a new cap then you still have air in the system.
You need to bleed the system. Park the truck with the front end up in the air (on a little hill or ramps or just jack it up) Then let it cool off completely. Go back out there after it's cool and pop the cap off then run it until it hits operating temp. You'll know when that happens because the radiator level will drop.
Add coolant as soon as the level in the radiator drops and after doing that a time or two it'll be air free.
If you park the truck with the right side higher then coolant will probably get in the fan shroud when it overflows out of the radiator and the fan will slap it all over the place. My truck got an unscheduled bath because of that.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I should do it now since its on a hill and cooled off but I don't have any antifreeze. I hope that helps bc I have had that sound for a while and people keep telling me oh its nothing to worry about but I aint stupid I know what my truck is suppose to sound like and that aint right.

Hmanity is dead
Last night I got a text from a friend of mine asking what happened to my truck. I had no idea what the guy was talking about, I mean, he knows that the front is still beat up pretty bad, so I said nothing. He comes back and says you better go look at the passenger side of your truck...
Something don't add up and I wouldn't have a clue that this had ever happened had someone not shot me a text.

If you find yourself out around East Lake Mead Blvd. just before it goes into the hills and see a bone stock factory green '98 1500 Club Cab 4x4 with a long-haired, bearded middle-aged man driving, give a honk and a wave because it's me. Mine's unique in the neighborhood because the factory headlights are nice and clear rather than hazed white.
In about a week, change the above to "bone stock... with a black Delta mid-lid and Backrack" because I'm ordering those up tomorrow and will install them the day they arrive.
Oh, and "Howdy, Neighbor!"

Damn I would be looking for a wrecked car with some red paint, check local body shops for the next week or so and see if they have any come in that have matching damage, and then sue them

It looks like someone may have been pulling into or out of the space adjacent to yours, and struck ya.
Those scratches on top of the fender could have been from a broken mirror as the guy went forward, hit you, and then backed up. However, they also look similar to keyings I have seen.
