Well its a 5-spd with the 4.3. Apparently it was put behind a 305 so i think it could survive a 350, at least for a while

My first vehicle was a '91 S10 Blazer with the 4.3L V6 with the auto. Pretty solid little motor and transmission, so long as you keep transmission fluid in it

^ Yup. Transmission didn't have a regular leak, so I never thought about it but, in the dead of winter years and years and years ago the transmission started to shift funny, especially the 1st to 2nd shift, it would reach it's shift point, lunge forward a couple of times and then hit 2nd.

Checked tranny fluid and as it DRY... Filled up with appropriate fluid and all was well again....Drove that Blazer to Georgia without any problems.

I can drive from Fairfax, Va all the way back home and just get the gas light as I drive down the final stretch of road before my house.
When new, I use to get 40 miles per increment on the gauge.
From a full tank to get down even with the "full" mark was 80 miles, then 40 per increment.
The light came on at the last mark, with 40 miles to "empty", and "empty" was empty.

So I use to get ~400 miles from my small (26Gal) tank... at worst I was down to ~280 miles from a tank, but now I'm back to ~360 miles.

I've never hit around 400 miles on a tank, I used to get in the 320's on a tank or a little less than a full tank.

Best MPG I've hit was 15.6, can't remember the miles drove on that tank.

I actually managed 18 MPG in my 2500 once...... and was never able to duplicate that. Of course, that was all freeway driving, at around 65mph or so. (unloaded as well.)

On a 400 and some change mile trip, city and freeway, I averaged 15 mpg. I was fairly happy with that.
