beer + dumb buddie = disaster
Ok me n a buddie were drinkin and lookin at the ol dodge and i took the breather hose off and we seen that the turbo blades were dirty.....i go inside to get another round and next thing i know the ol cummins sounds like a jet and i mean its screamin i run outside and jump in it put er in 6th and tryd to pull it down and did or it ran out of TRANSMISSION FLUID! the dang ding bat put tranny fluid in the turbo wile it was runnin!!!!!! It didnt do anything until it got a good glup of the atf and it took of!!!!!!! Im guna kill him.....anyways now i cant get it to start i dont think it done any internal damage. It cranks over and has compression and its gettin fuel but wont fire. I have a CEL light on and tryd to get a code and all i get is a 1693 so i know there is another code.....the quad says it was @ 4750 rpm!!!!!!! Im thinkin somethin in the IP took a dump....
SYMTOMS
1 will not start
2 cel (il find a code reader tomorrow)
3 tach stays @ 0 rpms when cranking (usually reads 1-200rpm wen cranking)
CCHECKD
1 has compression and no funny noises
2 has fuel
What could have let loose in its 2sec scream session

dude poured ATF in the turbo inlet of a running diesel!!!
*for those that don't know...a diesel will pretty much run on any kind of oil...and oil = fuel for it...diesels control their RPM by fuel only, there is no intake butterfly at all, so absolutely nothing between air and the engine other than the valves. so pouring a fuel source into the intake = unlimited fueling = runaway diesel..rev till she blows...
Redline on the cummins is 3200rpm...his revved to 4750rpm during that incident...dayum!
to put how stupid that was into prospective...its like wiring the intake butterflys of your engine open and spraying ether down there.... unlimited fuel with no rev limiter or throttle control.
that SOB was lucky he had a cummins... the engine survived. he blew a head gasket vapor locked the injection pump (easy fix....just bleed the lines), and toasted the cam position sensor. other than that shes still in one piece.
