Watts is a measure of energy, cubic inches/liters is a measure of volume. The two are not really interchangeable.... after all, 100 watts from 5 liters sucks. 100 watts from .5 liters is pretty good.
Well I personally like metric... I use metric wherever I possibly can. But for engine size I like having both the ci and liters. So, I can refer to my engine as either a 5.9L or a 360ci. Cubic inches is at least better than cubic centimetres in the case of measuring the volume of these huge engines...
