whats wrong with a cheap boat?
when I was 15 years old I bought an old 1970's 14' fiberglass runabout with a 6hp evinrude outboard, that had cable controls to hook to the front and dual tanks.
I added a battery holder, fishing pole holder, and bilge pump to it.
bought the boat back then for $800.
12 years later I traded straight across for a kawasaki x2 jetski with trailer.
2 years after that I sold the jetski and trailer for $1000...
I didn't lose any money... lol and I really didn't put any money into either.
it was a nice simple boat though. just a lil 6hp 2 cyl 2 stroke outboart, fiberglass hull, painted plywood floor. ripped up back to back seats. was great for fishing and just chillin on the water...wasn't going anywhere fast though....lol if I had kept it I probably would have put a 25hp motor on it...would have been more than enough to get that thing up on plane and cruising at a decent speed because it was a very light boat...

I have been in the marine trade for over 15 years now, no such thing as a cheap boat.
What type of boat you looking for I still have a few places to get boats cheap new.
Edit; You have no idea how many boats I have seen sink at the dock, people forget the plug they are so exited. I have many a marine story on stupidity.

The two best days of owning a boat are the day a person buys it and the day he sells it.

Usually at a big loss, but they are just happy it's gone lol. The new boat fun dies at the dock due to lack of how to opt a boat, the lack of proper edu on how to opt a new boat is useless. Seen some fight's at the dock over boats stuff.

lol I freaked some people out at the boat launch once...they thought I was a noob and didnt know what I was doing when I backed my trailer into the water till it disappeared and backed the bed into the water a bit...
Then they saw my buddy launch his jetski into the truck bed and were like ooooh! thats what he was doing...then pulled forward, put the seadoo on the trailer, and was out faster than they could get 1 boat on a trailer...
haha. I was pretty good with my fishing boat too.
trick is get the trailer 1/2 out of the water and drive the boat right up till it hits the V in the front, click the strap to the nose and drive out

Just one that I will always remember.
When I worked on the houseboats we were right beside the lunch ramp I always had a good view of things. One day a big new 38'+ Baja cig boat backs to the ramp, the guy gets out of his big truck and gets into the boat. The next thing I hear is all three motors run up, (no it's not in the water). So I need to go up to the shop to get parts and on the way past I ask what the guy is doing, tells me he was told to warm it up before he goes out on the lake. I tried to tell him it needed to be in the water to be run/warmed up but oh no he knew better than me, approx. run time on land 10+ min (yea it was smoken). Three hours later I saw it being towed to the ramp with three dead motors. Three motors at 20-40 grand each, just from stupidity or lack of edu about how to opt a vessel.
This is one of the faster boats out on this lake, twin v10 vipers 110+ mph

I gotta admit here, boats are no longer fun for me. Been three years since I was last out on the lake. You would need to be out on this lake in the summer to understand. I work on boats privately and that's it.

yep...burn up the water pumps in a hurry if its lake cooled. some newer watercraft and boats are going to sealed cooling systems though with water to water radiators to prevent the water pump failures and water jacket corrosion.
