It's not raining here so day three of cutting grass, I swear I can hear it growing stupid grass. I have been busy all week getting this place ready for a group of paving guys to camp here, it went from 10 trailers to over 20 trailers for 2.5 months stay. They start showing up today. This is a great way to start the season after last year.

So it seems that a DPS Crime Lab employee faked the results of numerous lab tests involving narcotics cases (since 2006) and some convictions are being overturned.....
Who would have thought....

I have already mowed about four times (sometimes letting it get 10" to 12" tall before cutting). Thinking about just opening the gate and letting the Mouflon graze it.....
A lot of rain last night, but very nice out today. Gotta work on wife's car, though....)

"I'd earlier suggested that enough inmates could be released from Texas prisons as a result of this unmitigated mess to allow the state to close an additional prison unit. But if the Court of Criminal Appeals handles all of Salvador's cases like they did Mr. Hobbs', the state might be able to close three or four of them. Stay tuned. This astonishing debacle has only just begun to play out."
I doubt if we hear much about it. The prison system in TX. is big business with a lot of clout and influential supporters.
Think of the money.

I have come to really admire Senator Whitmire (Houston) who is Chair of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. He really came down hard on TDCJ for not closing the Sugarland Prison after the 2011 legislative session as mandated by law. He also authored legislation regarding the illegal conviction of Michael Morton, who spent 25 years in prison for killing his wife, based on the prosecutor hiding evidence that proved he did not do it. DNA cleared him finally, and the trial for the person whose DNA matches the crime scene is going on now in San Angelo. The former prosecutor, now a District Judge, will likely get off scot free for his bad behavior due to statue of limitations.
One of the problems is so many prisons are operated by for profit corporations (such as GEO and CCA) who spend big bucks lobbying to keep the private prison complex in business.
One would be surprised how many non violent offenders are there at a huge expense, for minor infractions such as possession of a little weed.....
