Opinions on 4:10 and 4.56 gears with 35 inch tires
Took me over an hour to find this thread! I am looking at getting new tires this summer and can't decide whether I should get 315/70r17 (35's) or 285/70r17 (33's) with my 4.10 gears??? I am going to get a 2" leveling kit (which is the same as a 3 " lift on a non Off Road edition, considering I have a 1-1.5" factory lift with the Off Road edition). I don't want to spend a bunch of $$$ for new gears, which is why I bought the O.R.E. but I don't want my truck to be a dog or put any extra strain on my transmission if I go to bigger tires. This is an old thread but I would really appreciate it if you guys chimed in!
I rip ppl up with my 4.10s and 315s, but that's b/c I got some other juice. The 3.55 crowd don't know the difference.
You won't be able to fit 35s with just the 2" level especially with the backspace on those wheels. The pinch weld will become your new best friend... Just giving you a heads up.

haha woah! didn't even realize that till I read it a second time and saw the edit
Decided to go with a true 3" lift instead of just a 2" leveling spacer! Got 3" lift coils, sway bar drop brackets, track bar relocation bracket and a 2" add a leaf for a total of 3" of lift front and rear. All the parts came in the mail today and I'm installing it tomorrow! Only paid $350 shipping and all! Coils and add a leaf are from Skyjacker, sway bar drop bracket from Hell Bent Steel and Track bar relocation bracket from Tuff Country.
