My boys system in his 2nd Gen Neon.
Subs in our trucks, sound different than in a car, see neons are made with a lot of cheap metal, and a lot of plastic. Are trucks are so insulated that you don't get that rattle from the trunk, like this one has, like i said once he gets dynamatt there will be no rattle.
You can mat the damn things and that will help, but a lot of it comes down to just where you place everything. Firing out like that has a certain "cool" factor, but that's all that it accomplishes. You do it that way and you just have a speaker making a little sound a moving a lot of air.
Turn that woofer around and make it fire into something solid, and your sound will improve ten fold.
Take our trucks... It's best to have the woofer firing directly into either the floor, rear wall, or the seats.
If you are as accomplished as you say you are, this would be common knowledge.
In fact, I kinda hinted at this in another thread, but what you seem to recommend to folks for speakers and equipment says a lot about you. It tells me that you do not know near what you think you do and once you convince a regular on this site to use low end products like you have shown off, you will lose any and all credibility on this site for a long time, if not forever.
I'm not "hatin" but note, that you aren't not talking like you know what you are doing and that alone should scare a lot of people.
I vote facing the floor, I've had mine facing all directions for a few days each way and mine sound the best when they're facing the floor.
Hey Laramie, how come my Sony's sounded like they hit harder in my friends Tiburon than they do in the Dodge? It's got to just be something about how the sound bounces around a hatch back before it gets to you. Have you ever noticed that woofers seem to hit harder in a hatch back vehicle? I need to put them in my Camaro to test my little theory.

Good for wifey when taking a ride in the Dodge - not as much as when it was facing up.
Anyways, the thing you gotta remember is cab space. Certainly you are going to see a lot more "thump" out of a trunk system, but I feel that the quality degrades if you just throw the woofers in them and go. As I said, once you figure out how to make them fire into a solid surface, the sound will improve greatly.
Another aspect is what kind of box the speakers are mounted in. Ported boxes won't usually sound the same as sealed.
I remember that from the howard stern movie
I kinda had that image in my head when I put the box under there haha. Sadly, my results varied
I'm gonna flip mine and see, I doubt it'll make much difference though as it's a cobbled together box that was built for the space I had to fit it in, not for the subs requirements.... I still might build a new one, I think with the seat cushion out I could do it alot better. The one I have now juuust fits to slide it under from the rear but could be bigger once in there

Well I flipped it over and remounted it to the seat bracket and I must say, it is a very noticeable difference! I can feel it in MY seat now hahaha
Although I did make a couple other little tweaks... I bridged the sub and tweaked the settings on the deck and amp a bit, but it's sounding good for what I've got now. I would like to put another one under the drivers seat just to have 2, but then I gotta find a new spot for the amp... My buddy with the 97 Dakota got a steal on an MTX moulded box for under the rear seat, I've been drooling over it and tryin to get it outta him for months now

Didn't she have the cone pointed directly at her naughty bits in the movie? That's why I figured wifey would like it more like it originally was (facing up).
