noob intro
Welcome, n00b!
The most bang for the buck you're ever going to get would be invested in a tuner. SCT is all the rage right now. Superchips is good (and what I've got), but if bought new will cost more than the SCT.
RM_Indy reports that his second-biggest bang for the buck was a high flow cat. The Magnaflow direct-fit is what he used and what I just bought for $206.73 plus freight from Summit Racing -- but it's still sitting in a box taunting me. I'll have more to say after it's installed, but it'll be hip pocket dyno testing so not worth the bytes stored on the forum server's disk.
When you've got a Ram and want to upgrade, the first question is "How much do I have to spend and how many days can I manage to go without eating to get a few more nickels onto my stack?".
Then of course the automatic transmission pukes all over the highway, the plenum gasket blows, and the death wobble makes you regret the Taco Bell drive-through window. But dammit, it's a Ram so it's worth it!

Go into "User CP" on the top left when your logged in, your control panel has lots of stuff you can edit, including your signature.
Joshfinn, I have a few notes for ya.
That bull bar says it's for 94-01 but the 98 (or 99, can't remember) to 01 sport bumpers hang a bit lower than non-sports and that is why there are a lot less bull bars available for them. The picture shows it on a 3rd gen (02-08) so I don't know if I would get that one.
As far as magnaflow goes, your truck has a single in/single out catalytic converter so you can get the 70$ universal cat from summitracing.com that is 3" in/3" out and get a 3" to 2.5" reducer to put on the back of it. If you get it installed at a muffler shop then it should run anywhere from 30-60$. If they say it'll cost more than 60$ then go somewhere else.
To get a signature picture you have to click the link at the top of the page that says User CP and on the left side of the page that opens you will see where it says edit signature. Click that and you'll see a button that says browse and you can upload a picture straight from your computer.
If your picture isn't small enough (500x250 pixels) then you can re-size it in MSpaint. Copy the picture to your desktop so you don't mess up the original then open it with MSpaint.
When it is open hit ctrl-w and it will open the sketch/skew box. There are 4 places to put info in that window, put a value (try 80 first) into the two boxes on top (vertical and horizontal) and click ok.
Now hit ctrl-e and it will give you the attributes.
Keep doing that until you get the attributes at or under 500x250 pixels.
When you stretch the picture using values less than 100 you are re-sizing the picture by whatever percentage you put into the box.
K&N is overpriced for a CAI and won't affect mileage at all but will make the truck pull a little harder in the high rpms.
A lot of people on here (myself included) prefer a 14x3" open filter. I got a Mr. Gasket 14x3 from the parts store for something like 30$ then dropped another 50$ on a K&N 14x3 filter. If you go the 14x3 route then make sure that the one you get isn't going to hang low enough to hit the throttle cables if it has a drop base and make sure the opening in the bottom of it is 5 1/8" because that is the size of our throttle bodies.

-ok i think ive got the signiture figured out..
-A tuner would be cool, i've heard really good things about them.
Sheriff, your prob right about the bull bar i'll hold off untill i can get one that will fit for sure. Also i looked into the 14x3 filter, and my intake is different. I have the rectangle air filter in there. not sure if i misunderstood or if we just have different set ups.
Went out today to get a quote for the door rust, 3rd place that has told me i need new doors. This is going to get expensive quick.
guess i didnt do the sig right lol, i'll have to mess with it when i get home from work..

The rectangle air filter is the stock setup.
This is the 14x3

You can get patch panels for the bottom of the doors from lmctruck.com for 60$ each. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/de/full.aspx?Page=16

Oh yeah, speaking of trannsmisions puking all over the highway. I'm dealing with the p1740 BS. The stealership supposedly "fixed" it while i had a 90 day warranty when i bought the truck... 2 days after warranty ended the code came back. Luckily there are no symptoms yet, but i'd really like to get it fixed. They replaced the gov and solenoid.... basterds lol
