I thought I had a problem with my starter as it would occasionly just click or stop crank part way through, bought a new starter but needed addition tools. Today I tried starting 4 times and it would start but as soon as I release the key the truck died, on the fifth try it kept running. Now I believe it's the ignition switch, anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

 

Switch is very possible. But check all the cable connections at the PDC(black box behind battery) and the battery terminals. If you have a tilt wheel, the wires going up the column could be damaged also.
