I have the same exact programmer and never had an error code before...

If you bought this used...I'd say chances are that it is locked up or for a different year truck. You may need to send it in to Hypertech and have it reset to work

call hypertech and ask them what that code means and is there any work-around.

there is also a forum member from hypertech that you can PM.
Hypertech Support

i doubt that your primary problem is Vin Locked, or else it would specifically say so.

i've also got an 01, and i've also got a hypertech laying here in the shop that i used for awhile. it did do a slight timing advance, but it wouldn't adjust my speedometer for larger tires. hypertech has not yet been able to tell me why that is or offer a solution.

don't spend any more money on that unit.

Good possibility that the programmer is VIN locked, as the previous owner didn't return his vehicle to stock before selling it to you.

My thoughts exactly.

Also, if you gotta spend more $$$ to make it work, I suggest you toss it. Not the 'best' programmer around. If I had know about Hemifevers SCT, I would have it instead of my Hypertech for sure...still saving up to get one......eventually
