I'm just about to hit 200,000 miles on my 97 Sport. The trans was rebuilt at around 160k. Other than that, the truck runs like the proverbial (and cliche) top. I see no reason it can't go another 100,000 miles (knock on wood).

The amount of mileage you can get out of these trucks reminds me of an old movie quote - 'my top end is UNLIMITED' - (I believe this came from the cop during a chase scene in Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry) - I believe you can get as much mileage as you want out of these trucks, given that we can always exchange parts, such as the motor, transmission, differential, etc. I've swapped out numerous parts on my truck and plan to drive it indefinitely. Thanks goodness for the Internet, which makes access to vintage parts much easier than ever before.
I used to have an '82 Ram D-150 with a /6 engine. I got the truck with 180,000 miles on it, swapped in a rebuilt /6, rebuilt 727 trans, repainted the truck and drove it off and on for another 100,000 miles. The only reason I don't still have it is because I wanted a V-8/4WD/air conditioned truck to haul my car trailer/enjoy more power+A/C and someone wanted to pay me good money for the '82 to make the transition to the '96 Ram 2500 4x4 real easy.
