Default Accelerator Issuses

Has anybodys accelerator ever gotten stuck while driving down the road? I was driving down the road and my accelerator got stuck, not the pedal but the throttle on the the engine was like wide open. If i put the truck in neutral or park it just revved up. I had to shut the truck off and mess with the throttle and when i cranked it back up it was fine. I had previously shut the truck off and back on without messing with the throttle and when i cranked it back up it was still revving up. I hasnt done it in a week, is this something that is common or that i should worry about?

Thanks for the feed back in advance,
Spencer Reynolds

Sounds like something in the linkage is jacked up somewhere. Take the air cleaner off, clean all the springs, lubricate, and ensure that everything is functioning correctly.
