I could have bought a nice little compact car that was good on gas for my daily driver like my folks and my friends said. Instead I got a pickup truck that gets 12 to the gallon because i love trucks and I love driving trucks and I don't care what anyone else thinks. More power to ya man!

I deal with the same ****. Hell look at some of the comments on my fb when I mention buying parts. Also my parents (mostly my dad) give me **** about the money I spend. I always say you ain't out there working for my money so don't tell me how to spend it. Like the old saying you can't take it with ya when you die so might as well use it. I spend my money on what makes me happy, my truck and my Mustangs

 

same....i have a maxima as well, i plan on doing some mods too, i dont care what people think about that. Id go out and buy any type of car/truck for a project. Im still driving my RAM so what does it matter.

lets say this, if i saw a 92 Chevy with a 350, and it was selling for about1500, id take it, and rebuild it, to sell it, and make some cash, and use that extra cash on my RAM.....thats what i would do...

All in All, have fun with the projects. Its what you want to do, who gives a $h!t about what we think, its what YOU want to do.


But theres one thing ill never do...Buy a Ford product. I will NEVER EVER EVER get a Ford again. but i wont hate if people do a project on one.

 

You'll get hated on anything you do... My neighbor bashes my "unreliable truck" and keeps telling me "You need to buy something reliable like a GM or Ford". My other neighbor bashes my "unreliable truck" and tells me "Why do you waste your time with that crappy domestic- you should get a Toyota or a Honda".

I used to get bashed all the time for my 3000GT Spyder- "thats an ugly piece of sh*t" was the jist of what 1/2 the people said. "Thats the coolest thing I've ever seen" is what the other 1/2 said (had a trans am front end, camaro hood, MR2 Sides, and eclipse rear on a TT 3kGT Spyder_)

Now I drive a 2010 Camaro 2SS 426 HP bumblebee. I love it, and tons of people come up to me and tell me how much they love it.... BUT, even then I get bashed. One of my friends always said "you wasted your money on that POS domestic when you could have bought a nice BMW or Audi". I had another guy telling me "You should have spent the money you put into that on buying an old camaro and building it up". Still others say "Chevy's suck, buy a mustang"

No matter what you do, others will "hate" on you because its not what THEY would do. Its like I went to the bar with my friend the other day, and I wasn't drinking and he was- he insisted "your a p*ssy for not drinking", when a few days earlier he wasn't drinking and insisted "I don't have to drink all the time to have a good time".

Thats the beauty of the world though- you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT. You will get "hate" no matter WHAT you do though too- no one is loved by everyone, and most people will "hate" on you to make themselves feel better- so be like a duck, and let the "water roll off your back". Its up to you not to care what anyone else says. Personally I just say things like "We are all entitled to our opinion", or "Good thing its not your decision then, right?". You just have to "accept" the hate and not let it get to you, and do what YOU want.

 

^^ Ask your neighbor about the infamous sludge problems with Toyota truck engines, the frame rot/rust recall in northern states, and the myriad of automatic transmission problems with Honda cars.

Oh, and Toyota can't build a full size truck that will TOUCH a domestic truck -- and this is from someone who would never consider owning a Chevrolet/GM pickup.

 

Do, drive and work on what makes you happy, cause there will be hundreds who want you baaaa just like them.

Who gives a **** what other people think. You do whatever you want to do as long as it makes you happy (except drugs...). Suburbans are cool. Trail-running Suburbans are even cooler.

 

F 'em ! LOL When I built my 86 D150 and put an old school flame job on it (and a bunch of other work), some jerk actually had the ***** to come and tell me "Ya ruined a nice truck" ! I told him that it had worked out good then, he didn't like it and he didn't own it!!
Here's a pic of "Night Moves", my first brand new truck, this pic was taken when it had approx 10,000 kms (6000 miles) on it. 10 years later, I was still winning Best Paint trophies! I sold the truck in 2000, but I still have a bunch of trophies I won with it!

my uncle tells me all the time that i should get a vehicle with a 4 cylinder instead of buying a truck with a 8 cylinder but i like the 8 cylinder trucks instead of 4 cylinder vehicles because i feel way safer in a truck with a V8.
