replacing engine
ok sdo my friend hsas an 01 dodge ram regular cab 4x4. we removed the 360 engine a couple weeks ago because it lost compression. we finally got a remaned 360 from marshall. we put the engine in and got the motor mounts bolted up. and their is about a one inch gap between the engine and the transmission. we have verified that we have the right motor mounts, and that they are installed correctly. we have tried raising the engine, loosening the engine mounts and we can not get it to line up. any help is appreciated.
Are the centerlines of the motor and tranny in line, as in the planes of the bellhousing and back of motor parallel and there is an even 1" gap all the way around?
Is the tranny supported? Try leaving the motor in place and adjusting the tranny. The tranny mount is adjustable you may need to simply move it forward, it may have gotten knocked back.
Is each the motor mounts on the correct side. I can't remeber if they are reversable but it may shift the motor forward if they are switched.
