that is a good deal considering it is 1500 Watts Continuous Power, 3000 Watts Peak Power. it would probably be a better idea to install it in the cab so it don't get damaged by moisture or cold weather. like i said before it would be a good idea to put it on a relay and wire it so that it can't go on without your key being in the run position and have your truck running. i had a 400w one and with my laptop and internet modem hooked up it would drain my truck battery to the point where i could not start my truck in less than an hour.
The relay sound like a good idea. The cobra 1500w might be overkill for what I need, but for that price why not? The more I think about it mounting inside the cab seems like the better idea, in case I need to take the toolbox out for something. Thanks for the advice.

your welcome. i just thought i would share what I've learned from my own experience. when i left my inverter under the my hood it ended up dieing but then again it was 6-7 years old and i only paid $30 for it brand new.
Or you could just turn the engine on and forget the relay.. It's not like he's just going to run up, plug his grinder in and start going to town without remembering, "hey I should probably turn the generator on first."
Don't even bother with the hassle. Fuse that thing at the battery, mount it under your back seat or something, and enjoy.
