I'm kicking around the idea of hard wiring a DC to AC power converter to the inside of the tool box, so I can have an outlet to run power tools right in the bed. Drop the tailgate and have a little mobile work bench.
All this talk of power inverter and know I'm really itching to install mine, I'm doing it in the cab somewhere though need it to charge my labtop and a couple other things plus I'll get a little extension cord, and be able to go all around the truck.
And the toolbox looks good reminds me I have to do something with mine

if you are planning to run power tool you would probably need at least a 1000w inverter. i know where i live you can get a 1000w inverter for about $100. the only thing is you have to hard wire it straight to your battery but you might want to put it on a relay so that it will only be on when you truck is on and running or you may end up with a dead battery.
I saw a 1500w cobra on amazon for $95. That might be the one. It has to be hard wired to the battery, which is no problem, these trucks are easy to wire up. I will probably run a switch in the cab so I can keep it off until I need it.
that is a good deal considering it is 1500 Watts Continuous Power, 3000 Watts Peak Power. it would probably be a better idea to install it in the cab so it don't get damaged by moisture or cold weather. like i said before it would be a good idea to put it on a relay and wire it so that it can't go on without your key being in the run position and have your truck running. i had a 400w one and with my laptop and internet modem hooked up it would drain my truck battery to the point where i could not start my truck in less than an hour.
