Point taken, I guess 4x2 owners can see too, didn't really give the title any thought, LOL...
Hammer,
I have a question for you- I've heard (or read) you say you don't think an IFS truck should ever go larger than a 35" tire.. Why is this? I'm just curious, and it's not that I would ever want to go larger than the 35"r's I'm running now- but it I would just like to know.. Is it the leverage?
By the way- sharp truck.. I've mine set up somewhat similar..

The problem you run into is that CV axles (half shafts) grow weaker as the angle increases. Couple a severe angle with a heavier tire and you are more prone to failure. Now get a tire a little stuck off-road and apply some torque to it and the weakest component breaks. This one:

Big difference between a solid front axle and a pair of CVs. Even relatively weak solid axles are a hell of a lot stronger than a CV. Is an off-road shop in middle Georgia where I know the owner, good shop by reputation. You sign a waver if you are going any larger than 33's that said you do so at your own risk and were advised that it could not be safe with an IFS truck. Now I think that's a little over-the-top, myself, but he makes his point.
Some suspension kits (the more expensive ones) lift the truck without raising the angle significantly, but even in those cases, I've known guys to snap a CV with big tires, and in one case on the highway, on a family vacation. Through a dent in his getaway plans.
I've pulled two trucks out of the woods with snapped CV shafts on my hunting club's lease property (in both cases Chevy IFS trucks), one running 35s and one running 37s...

thank you sir.. I figured that is what you meant by that but I was never certain, and I've been meaning to ask for a good while..
I run Cepek 35"x12.5" tires- on Moto 951's 20"x10" rims.. those rascals are HEAVY- like, closing in on 150lbs each I'm sure.. I figured the bearings are under an extreme amount of stress too..
One more question and I'll leave you alone-
They absolutely ARE CV joints, but they aren't called CV's on a 4wd... what are they called? For the floggin' life of me I can't remember, and it really bothers me!!

Thats just it. I have seen some attractively priced jerk straps before, but you could tell when holding them in your hand that they were junk.
