Question of the day!
when I lived in Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait and Saudi, it was a status symbol to drive either a toyota land cruiser, or a nissan patrol.. the land cruisers are available over here but they're dressed up a LOT more than the ones there... the patrol's aren't available here at all..

these are some rock solid trucks.. I would love to have one, but I'd never be able to find parts for it anywhere- so it ain't going to happen..
I once came into a traffic round-about, and some Arab kids were joy-riding their papa's patrol- they had it up on two wheels whipping around and around that round-a-bout, with it coming down HARD every two or so laps.. I saw them at a coffee shop a little later and talked with them about it.. He said they do it all the time and have never damaged it doing that and jumps (i didn't witness the jumps though)..
Out wheelin' in the desert you will see them all over the place.. I never once felt like I was going to get stuck.. I've seen them on the beach with the surf over the bumpers (snorkel kits on them).. Of all the cars over there broken down on the side of the road (mostly due to overheating), I bet 80% or more are American made vehicles (escalades are also popular)- but even though at least 60% of the population there owns patrols- i've never seen one broken down.. those are some bad **** vehicles right there let me tell you.

I think the Patrol's US equivalent is the Armada, though the Armada is a dressed vehicle akin to the dressed version of a Land Cruiser here too.. They aren't made to be fancy there, they are intended to last in that environment- and they do.. I'd love to have one, and if I had one in good condition I'm thinking I wouldn't have to worry much about parts for a long while short of accident..

That Lower Forty doesn't look like it could flex at all. Tires are too big.
If we are talking vehicles in roughly the same price range as our current Rams, i'd probably be in a 66-77 Ford Bronco fixerupper, a Jeep Wrangler, or an 11th gen F-150.
Otherwise, if money where no option, my choice would probably be either a 2007-present Dodge Ram Powerwagon, or a Land Rover Defender 90.
