I have to say goodbye to Ol' Blue
well i lost my job, and with gas the way it is, i have to sell the ol girl....
I dont know what happened, when i first changed the timing chain and exhaust, i was getting 12.2 mpgs, and somehow its taken a HUGE downfall....
as of right now, the past 3 gas tanks, ive averaged 5.8 mpg......i have no idea why is this bad, and thats with 60% city 40% highway....
Ive dumped thousands of dollars into the truck, and there is still alot of work that needs to be done.....my front seal just blew out somehow, and i have oil pouring out, gear box is leaking real bad, i can smell transmission fluid while driving, even though my tranny and t-case are full, and just a bunch of stuff.
Ive done alot of work to it, and i mean the truck runs great, but i cant afford the gas, and the repairs that it needs....everytime i fix 1 thing, 6 more things go......cant do it anymore...
I dont regret buying the truck, i love my truck, its just costing me way to much money....
I have it on CL for $2800, and ive done ALOT of work like i said, has new tires etc, and thats still below KBB fair value....Im hopeing i can get this girl sold....
But dont worry, ill be getting another RAM down the road, im looking to sell this, and i have a nice looking Dodge stealth im looking at....But whe i get my new RAM, it WILL NOT be a 2nd Gen....going for a hemi, since my next truck will be the last one i buy for a long time. I cant deal with junk anymore....
Going to miss the old girl but its for the best.

I'm sorry to hear that you've got to get rid of your truck, but with all the problems you've had I can't blame you a bit.
Since you're probably cutting out soon, I hope you don't mind if I offer a bit of what I hope is helpful advice: The only way I know to avoid buying someone else's headache is to make the search into a second temporary job that pays in what you don't spend on repairs later. It always pays to find a truck that's had only one previous owner, has been well maintained but not by the owner's own hands (and preferably by the dealer), hasn't been modified, and checks out squeaky clean in AutoCheck or CarFax. It can take months to find one, but it's worth it in the long run.
I guess DF's going to lose a darn fine regular. Be well!

i wont leave the forum if i do sell it.....and also im going to stay firm around my price of $2800...maybe take $2500 at the lowest....
But i just talked to the owner of a Mobil station 4 blocks from me, he knows me by name, and might be looking for help, and took my phone number today....he might have overnights 6 days a week, cuz a guy he hired 2 weeks ago isnt working out....and since thats literally walking distance (5 minute walk) i could grab that and be able to keep Ol' Blue....like i said i dont want to, so if i can get this i wont have to......
But my real goal is to be able to save and get a second vehicle.....i totally regret selling my maxima a few months ago, i got like 27 mpg on average with that thing, and it had 199K, and all i did to it was brakes, alternator, and the belt.........wish i kept it....
but if i can score this ill keep the RAM......its amazing how things can possibly turn around so quick.....it would be aroun 45 hours a week....and i could get a day job, and ill be golden.

It's always darkest before the dawn. Also right before you die... Either way's the signal that the BS is just about over.

The way your threads have been going lately, not only do I believe you, but I feel for you man. Best of luck though. Just remember, things could always be worse...much much worse.

o trust me i know, the truck could "die" on me....luckily its just odds and ends that need to be fixed.....but the truck could be not running right now.......im just hopeing things turn around, id much much rather buy a second vehicle rather then selling my truck, because no matter what ill be losing out if i sell it, thats why i would like to keep it, and when i get my second vehicle id like to make the truck my project, and re-do the whole thing (interior, paint it etc.) id like to have my truck even when i buy my new truck, i want my current ram to be my mudder down the road.
well i have a couple potential jobs....they are part-time which sucks, but the pay is good and still get 30 hours.....
And i went to redo my clamp on my muffler (messed it up when i hollowed the CAT), and what do i find lodged into the muffler? a nice big chunk of my CAT, clogging up about 70% of the hole.....Truck sounds ALOT better now, runs ALOT better, and my mpgs may have increased.....havent driven it enough yet, but i did go 38 miles today, and my needle has just barely moved and thats with 100% city driving.......hopefully the CAT piece was why my mpgs went to crap.
