Default hey yall

as some of yall may remember i just had my tranny replaced and life has been good. i have 4000 miles since the swap. while the truck was in the shop i had my motorcycle brought to me so i could get to work without having to rely on someone for a ride. ( i was working out of town when the tranny died) anyway ever since i got the truck back i noticed that the fluid was high on the stick. i removed the fitting that causes so much problem from the cooling lines and lost almost no fluid. so anyway i called the guy who did the work and he said not to worry about the fluid being overfilled a little.
so the job i was working on ended and it is time to go home so i rent a 5x9 trailer from uhaul and load the bike up and away i go for the 250 mile ride home. i stay under 65mph and when i was not on the interstate i had the OD off. about at the 200 mile mark i get alot of smoke from under the truck and my heart sank. being on the interstate under heavy traffic i could not stop right away. I HEARD NO NOISE WHAT SO EVER FROM THE TRANNY! it shifted fine so i kept going. i made it home and check the fluid and it is right where it needs to be. the fluid does not smell burnt but it dont smell like new fluid. i put a cooler on for the tranny fluid. (12x15) but the temp gauge is not here yet.

why did the tranny smoke like crazy for about 30 seconds? there is fluid all under the carriage but nothing leaking out of the pan or seals. what happened to the extra fluid?

Same thing happened to me at a stop light. Trans fluid came out of the dipstick tube and landed right on the header. Caused a huge could of smoke and even started filling the cab. I was hoping my truck was going to burn up and I would have to get a new one but no such luck.

On the passenger fender, in the engine bay, behind the shock tower you will see two rubber lines with caps on the end of them. Look at them and see if they have transmission fluid on the end of one of them.
If that is where it came from then the whole fender should be wet.

Follow the fluid up to see where it came from.
Is your truck a 4x4 or a 4x2?
