Question K&N Muffler? Had no idea

I got down to take a look as I wasn't for sure what I had. It's stamped K&N. Is this for real? I just checked the site and no mention of exhaust. Any smart people here elaborate?

apparently it was back in early 2000s. All I could find was that they were typically part of a JBA kit. Mine hasn't experienced any cracking like what has been shown of them.

Yes, back in the early 21st century K&N dabbled in exhaust systems to go with thier FIPK Air intake. A magazine sponsored dyno test run on a single 3 inch Catback with a FiPK on a 2000 ram showed a 13hp increase @ 4000 rpm and about 10 ft/lbs of torque right at 2 grand.
Shortly after that, the exhausts disappeared from thier catalog. I want to say "flowtech" copied the design.

Wow, make a hole for smart guy! Thanks for the info dsertdog56. I'm fairly certain I have this setup. Wonder if they sold the configuration to flowtech instead?

Smart...nah! Maybe well read?
I got the mag the test was done in right before I bought my ram back in '01. I guess that's why it stuck with me. I recall the exhaust was pretty pricey. Is your muffler stainless?
The test was run a on a red QCSB with the offroad and sport package.

In some circles, well read = smarty pants.

Yes, mine is SS. I do have the O/R package. So yours didn't come with one?

Mine is a base commercial grade package...which is everything HD but lower gears . The quote for the "system" was just under 6 bills.
