General rule of thumb, if you still have street tires, keep it on the street.

He would have made it farther if he had an FX4 with some good AT's.
STX 4x4s are lower than even the XLT's let alone FX4's.

I know there's pretty much no chance in hell I'd make it through that hole, but you might be surprised what they can do if you keep the momentum going.

i wouldn't mind trying it. with the right tires you might be able to drive a 2wd through there. i have gone through a few mud holes on farms with my 81 and not got stuck but i had a bit of momentum and my tires are almost brand new.

I can agree with the momentum thing. I have seen some guys go through some crazy **** with a 4x2.. Just gotta keep your foot in it and do some good navigating
