no matter what you attach it to, if it is mounted from below the bumper, it will not hold up to hitting stuff. Grill guards are for mounting lights on, or "looking tough." They don't actually guard your truck from anything, just make it harder to wash. if you were to mount it through your bumper directly to the frame it would be somewhat better, but not much. if you like the look though, go for it, thats totally a personal opinion.

To be honest, it would look good if it weren't so chunky.
I mean dude, it's FAT. Seriously. Too bad Ranch Hand doesn't make the one I have anymore, I would suggest you get one of these..
But hey, it's your truck.

dang that thing hangs low. i would go off-roading with that thing on my truck and mine sits way higher than yours. if it were me i would shorten up that bottom chunk and use the metal to make some brackets

I have a GoIndustries on mine. For you I'd say you need to trim up that bottom bar, it's killing your approach angle.

if you're not able to fab up something that fits, you might try contacting the manufacturer, and asking if you can trade it in on a 2nd gen with the mounting kit.

tell the truth - it was a gift from a friend. wrong part. incomplete. no receipt.

best case they give you full credit and you pay the difference and return shipping.
worse case they just say no.

shipping might be too expensive to make it worthwhile.
just my opinion, but i don't like the excessive drop on the center frame. that'll just hit stuff. i'd cut that off and and just make a winch box in the center.

Hey I really like the look of it on your truck, I agree it hangs a little low, but it would be real simple to cut down and make some brackets, I wouldnt mind one like that

My guard is mounted below the bumper and I gotta say I'm glad I have it, was in an accident once when I was rear ended and made me rear-end the guy infront of me, the guard really saved my front end. Also works great for pushing dead vehicles as well as deer
