My trainer for my new job just recently moved down from Long Island, NY. Been in Jacksonville, Fl for 3 months so far and he still has a pretty good NY accent. It's great

North or south, everything/everyone this far east takes some getting used to, that's for sure.

Couple of thoughts for you:

- Shop around. You will probably find a pretty wide range of rates. Insurers charge based upon rates filed with the State. Some may be much more aggressive for families with young drivers -- other less so. State Farm may have great rates for adult drivers but they may not be as competitive when you add a youthful driver to the mix. You may be able to find another insurer willing to write the same coverage you have now for a lot less than State Farm. Insurers are not loyal to you, no reason to feel loyal to them. Just takes a few minutes on the internet to get several Auto Insurance quotes.

- Are you getting all the discounts you are eligible for. Some companies offer discounts for writing both Auto and Homeowners insurance. If your home is not with State Farm, get a quote from your HO carrier. Most insurers offer good student discounts for young drivers -- but they usually don't come to you asking if your son qualifies. You can probably check their website to find out what their requirements are.

My registration was just at $258. $154 for weight tax. All trucks are like that here in CA. I don't recall why. I'm pretty sure my registration was <$100 in CO. *shrug*

So I have nothing to gripe about compared to CT.
