It's just the economy of scale. It's always cheaper to build a thousand of something than a hundred (for example) and GM has a significantly larger market share.
Depends on what SBC Chevy you're working on. My 98 5.9 Dodge parts are generally cheaper than my 95 blazer with the 4.3 V6. Gen 1 SBC parts are the cheapest because they're the same from the mid 1950's to the mid 80's. Anything else is more expensive. Look at the price of stuff for the ls engines!
90's chevy parts are cheaper because the motor is a simpler design that was 30 years old allot of companies make the same parts and have to be competitive. New design in our trucks and less companies making parts
