yes...and I didnt even do that... I poured a bit directly down the intake while idling and shut it off for ten minutes right afterwards.... I let it sit 10 to 15 minutes then fired it up and let it smoke...
I guess my way can be dangerous because if yu pour too much in at once you can hydro lock it and bend a pushrod... therefore I poured it in slow while it was running till is just started to smoke. the right way would have likely worked better and been safer...

yeah I have no choice but to do it that way on my vw since there's no vacuum ports on the carbs... like I said I pour it slow till its starts to bog down in idle and smoke then I shut it off wait and fire it up and it smokes like hell so be sure there no one around to complain.
As far as cleaning cats...my experience tells me they can be unplugged if they have unburnt oil and carbon buildup... in the golfcart forums its common practice on 2 cycle engines to to remove the muffler and cook it in a campfire till it lights up and burns like a torch at both ends..it smokes for a bit too... after it cools it works great and the power comes back to the golf cart because the flow is no longer obstructed...... when a blown plenum or excessive oil blowby is the issue most of the cat would be plugged by such unfully burned oil...so theoretically it should work the same way.... of course I think the cats environmental cleaning capabilities would likely be lost due to this but I'm not sure....

Well if you recently replaced your cat already I wouldnt mess with trying to burn it in a fire or anything... thats something I would try on a plugged cat since it works great on plugged mufflers.

I did this today. My truck never stalled i had to shut it off myself. It said to pour 1/3 of a pint. but i poured the whole can in and had to shut it off myself. Then i started it up 5 minutes later and it ran fine for a few minutes a little smokey then it got really smokey idled really low almost died. and it knocked pretty bad. Is that normal?

Did it clear up? Does it run good now? If so, then, don't worry 'bout it.
