Default Got my plenum fixed.

Well i did my plenum last week, and replaced the stock plate with an aluminum one i got off of ebay. Stock plenum gasket had one blowout and was close to another few, and actually only had oil on one side of the stock pan.
But i cleaned it up and changed the gasket and pan and it runs much better now, i also cleaned the the throttle body and the IAC up and it idles much better now, and doesnt start rough anymore.

I still think i have a damn exhaust leak tho, ticks while it runs and started when i put the cat on.

Now i have almost everything done with the truck that i want to do with it, might add an led strip under the tailgate, and add a leveling kit to the front, and possibly get duals in the future.

How long did it take you to get it done? +1 on checking for a clogged cat.

+1 led strip under the tailgate
Have you thought of a tuner at all? It helped my power and gas mileage, almost like night and day.

Yea i have thought about a tuner, but i have an OBD 1, id have to get a whole new PCM or send mine to get tuned,
and i just changed the cat like 2 months ago, and it burnt maybe half a quart of oil in the last 2 oil changes. i just did the plenum before it got to bad.

Well all in all it took probably around 8 hours, this was the first time i did something like this on anything other than a tractor so i took my time taking it apart, and labeled everything, and then my dad helped me put it back together.

The worst part of the whole job was the damn egr tube that i hadn't even thought of, the Haynes manual didn't say anything about it, and it wasn't until i took all the manifold bolts out and started trying to take the manifold off til i noticed there was something still connected. Thankfully it didn't break.

a seafoam treatment might help to burn out any oil buildup that may have started in there...

Ok... keep in mind I should have mentioned it can also dramatically remove carbon bulidup inside your heads from when it was burning oil... My truck doesnt even burn oil and I noticed a nice change. I have done it on all of my vehicles because it really seems to make a difference. and the smoke proves it...

okay, your just talking about running it through the intake(via the brake booster line?) till it stalls itself then letting it sit?
