I don't even know about that. In the mid '90s I had a little Ford Ranger company provided service truck, even had an aluminum bed cap. Four speed manual with a whopping 2.3L 4-banger. The thing got about 14 mpg in optimum conditions...

Stick with the Dodge. The tires on that Chevy are worth more than the rest of the truck.

That's sad.

But hell my wife's '02 Buick Century only get's about 21mpg on my runs. Fitzgerald then Waycross then Tifton and then Cordele, then back to Fitzgerald.

Sorta scared to see how the truck does.

Ok thanks for your opinions guys. I was just looking at that truck. The reason for selling my truck is it was my first truck and in my opinion I went over board as far as spending. And I already know I have more in it then I could sell it for, and over the last month I've put about $400 bucks into maintenance, which I know it's much. I think I'm going to have to replace the pass. hub now another $100. I'm just putting more and more money into, I'll never see. I think I should cut my loses, but a cheaper truck and only put money into what I NEED for it, not what I WANT for it.
Also, after selling my truck and with the money I just got for selling a car I inherited from my uncle, I could buy a nice diesel. Which I really want, but rather put that money aside for now.

I'd like to have a diesel too, but even a simple repair and be extremely expensive and it's not always something one can do themselves and finding a good diesel mechanic can be hard and isn't cheap.

Problem with general repair cost's, you don't see that when selling, heck even custom option's don't always yield a high sale.

If you've got money in your truck prepare for the long haul and keep it until the wheels fall off or until the government makes us all get green cars.

Depending on the overall condition of your truck and mileage I don't see why you couldn't get $5 or $6k easy, depending on the buyer of course, might get someone willing to pay more.

So what are you looking to gain by selling the truck you have already put (in your own words) too much money into? You know you won't get it back. You also know what you have done to make the truck reliable, you know what maintenance has been done and when, you also have a MUCH nicer rig then any other kid on the block. And you admit that you couldn't buy as nice of a rig with whatever you could get for your's. Sounds like you need to just keep the thing. If you really want an old beater, save your pennies and buy a second truck. But STAY AWAY FROM 90's CHEVY's!!!! The 4x4 system is GARBAGE. Buy a '70s or '80s dodge. They never seem to die. And look for a granny gear 4spd, they are so much fun.

You make the idea sound so stupid when you put it that way.
I have the money right now for an old beater I just sold a 2009 hyundia accent with 4200mi on it.
But in my defense, I have owned my truck for over a year now, but from last sept (when I bought it) to this May (when I was done with everything) the truck never got driven, and now that I'm driving it on a daily basis is when everything starts happening. In the last year and year and 3 months I put on a total of 3500mi.

It does seem like just as soon as you fix something, something else rear's it's ugly head....

I'd just keep at it, fix what goes wrong when you can, and you'll have a great rig in the end.

The problem with picking up an older vehicle is think of all the work you've done to your truck, now just think about having to do that on whatever you buy, that turns a cheap beater into a money pit...

That Chevy listed all kinds of new parts, but what's to say the engine doesn't crap out after you buy it or the transmission, hell who knows what else...

I know I should keep it. But, I think the idea of something going wrong one thing after another right when I start driving it all the time is scaring me into wanting to sell it, because if it keeps up like this, the $100-$200 fixes will turn into $400-500 fixes and I don't want to keep pouring money into it.
Like I said before, this truck taught me a lot between NEEDING and WANTING.
like a diesel, I want one, but I'm trying to talk myself out of it, because I know how much they cost to maintain.
