Default truck opinions

I've been debating selling my truck and I think I am going to. So latley I've been looking around for trucks. I found a '96 chevy 2500. Here's the ad:
SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY!!!! IF AD IS UP I STILL HAVE IT. 177K 350 VORTEC, 4L80E TRANS, 4.10 GEARS. FLEET OWNED/MAINTAINED SINCE NEW 3RD OWNER (SECOND OWNER WAS THE FLEET MECHANIC) 3 INCH BODY LIFT, 35 INCH BFG MUD TERRAINS, BRAND NEW PRO COMP SUSPENSION LIFT AND 4 EDELBROC SHOCKS NOT INSTALLED.SO MANY NEW PARTS TO NAME A FEW ARE ALL NEW BRAKES, ALL NEW STEERING ARMS AND TIE RODS/ALIGNMENT, NEW HUB BEARINGS AND CALIPERS/ROTORS, FULL TUNE UP, TRANS FLUSHED, WATER PUMP AND COOLANT FLUSHED WITH ALL HOSES REPLACED, NOS BED (TAKEN OF A TRUCK WHEN IT WAS 2 DAYS OLD) COWL HOOD, NEW FUEL TANK/SENDER/ PUMP/STRAPS, ALL BRAKE AND FUEL LINES. CAB HAS SOME ROT CAB CORNERS AND ROCKERS, TRUCK IS NOT PERFECT BUT TURN KEY READY FOR WORK OR PLAY.
sorry it's all caps, I copied and pasted it.
The guy want $2350 for it.
The problems it has are might need a fuel injector spider, there is a slight hesitation at part throttle, and windshield has a low crack.
I know it's not a dodge, but what do you guys think?

First question is why do you want to sell your truck? From your sig picture it looks like a clean nice rig.. Whats up with selling it?

I've got a lot of experience with the GM 350 V8 and I like it BUT why trade BACK two model years? Plus from a personal taste standpoint, I think your truck looks WAY nicer than that one. Yeah it's a 3/4 ton frame but I think the only mechanical advantage it has over your truck is that the transmission is a lot more reliable, every other aspect I'd give to the Ram. I still think the that on average the life of a Dodge 318/360 is higher than the GM 305/350...

So you want to sell your Ram. A very nice clean truck, a truck that you have done most of the mods too. And you want to buy that POS to replace it?

Look at the rust! That is alot more then ''some''. The rockers are gone, I can see the cab corners are shot, and I see rust on the bottom of the bed. Frame is probably rotten, judging by what I can see. Not to mention these trucks have serious frame rot issues. Front bumper has rust on it, which means the back is probably worse. Crack in the windshield, that's going to be some $ to get that fixed. And with all of his part throwing he still ain't figured out his apparent fuel issue. Those chevy's don't like big tires, they hate'em more then our trucks.

Second owner was the fleet mechanic? Red Flag - truck has been beat. I am willing to bet truck is a living nightmare waiting for the next owner. Your stupid for even thinking this would be worthy upgrade.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it were not for Chevrolet, our tools would rust.

I agree with the rest of the guys and I wouldn't trade your truck for that Chevy. And in my opinion the asking price is too high. You can't fix vehicles up and try to get back what it cost to fix.

But it would make a good weekend/off road beater if it's 4x4, didn't see that mentioned anywere.

I think it'd be a mistake. My father has a '97 GMC that's a testament to poor quality and it's never seen one day of rough duty in its life. The thing is a collection of broken parts that fly in formation.

its one thing to sell to buy a chevy and another to sell to buy that thing, all that work on a truck thats only got 177K, rust all over the place a 3" body lift is not enough for the 35's.

A headache is an understatement, I own a dodge and the three other trucks at the house are all Chevys(well now one is a gmc), 2 get worked on all the time, then again my brother drives both of them depending on which one is running, the chevy we just sold never really got worked on other than minor things.

If it was clean it would be one thing but thats a ragged out truck

Yeah I was making the assumption this truck purchase was going to be somewhat of a daily driver for which use I think it'd be a money pit.

Yeah fleet mechanic owner would indicate to me it's been beaten on and probably neglected for routine maintenance (the old shoe-maker deal).

As a project truck/weekend beater, sure - IF you can get the price down a good $500-600...

I'm sure your right, it would end up the DD, I only suggested the off road beater idea for laughs.

Bottom line, if you want to sell your truck then go for it. If your looking for something cheaper on gas then don't look for a truck period, especially that truck.

If your looking for something cheaper on general maintenance then I don't know what to tell you.

Some car parts are more expensive then truck parts, and cars that are front wheel drive are a pain to work on motor or transmission wise since it's in there sideways, not to mention the lack of ground clearance...
