Here it is! I received this e-mail early this morning.........

"...... Mostly all the pictures you saw on our website that customers sent in (nationawide) or brought in (local) for recovered. The cost to recover your 99 Dodge Ram steering wheel to factory's specification is
- Wheel $269.
Turn around time is 2 days.
You can drop it off (the wheel only, not the whole truck) and pick it up yourself.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,

Wow. May start looking at a JY........Seems pretty high, but probably cheaper than dealer pricing......

Does the $269 include shipping? Either way, it's leather wrapped with new padding. To me that's a fair price, especially with two-day turn around.

Don't know if it includes shipping, but if so, I am sure it would only be one way included as you ship the sw to them to start.

Just seems pricey for a steering wheel, but like I stated, gotta be less than dealership pricing.....cause anything is less than dealership. Don't know that I ever bought a steering wheel, so it may not be out of line. Their e-mail is info@Dallassteeringwheel.com. They responded quickly, so that is a good sign.

Edit: I just sent an e-mail to Mr. Le to ask about shipping AND to see if he would offer a discount "to a club or organization" (thinking DF, of course). I will post back with his answer. We may be onto something here, VW!

I will definitely step up if you report back that they'll wrangle a special deal for a group buy. I'll even post something in the Crown Vic forum in case anyone there is interested for their cars. That could potentially aid the cause.

Well, no go on a group discount:

From this afternoon's e-mail:
body
Sorry, the shipping cost is $18. I thought you are local and you can drop your wheel off that's why I didn't include the shipping charge. Also, if you live in Texas, 6.25% tax will be applied.
We only offer 10% discount for repeat customers, that means next time if you have any other items recovered, we will be happy to offer discount.
Thanks,

So shipping is extra, but a discount for repeat customer. I wonder how many people would be interested in having theirs done. Maybe an actual number would move him.....don't know. I still may do it, but due to cost, it will not be an immediate need. Not around Christmas anyway. After buying paint, and gifts for 10 grandkids, steering wheel is lower priority for now.

That's cool. I'll still send mine in and I'm going to inquire about them redoing the dash on my Golf.

My steering wheel was getting worn and "sticky" feeling too. But the middle area is fine so I choose the cheap route. Not too shabby.

$17 at AutoZone.
