Default Finally ordered my SCT

Got a bit of extra cash recently and ordered the SCT from Hemifever! Been waiting awhile to actually do this but it's gonna be worth it. I will update with how I like it once I get it.

Got it in and just within the first day its awesome! I had an eighth tank of 87 fuel left so I loaded the 87 tune first and drove around with that for a bit. I noticed a very slight gain in power but it didn't bother me because that's the "fuel mileage" setting. I then put in a half tank of 91 and loaded the 91 tune. From a dead stop it has a good noticeable increase with power. The upper rpms are what really impressed me though. There aren't any gas stations nearby that sell 93 octane in the winter so I'll have to wait to test that one til spring/summer time, but I think I can wait.

So is the SCT worth doing if your just gonna run 87? I'm not sure how everyone else here can afford 91 or 93....

The most improvement I noticed was between The stock tune and The 87 tune- mine had The death flash though. I also noticed some improvement in MPG. Last time I filled up I put in 93 and it's great. I wish I could afford it all the time! Definitely worth doing even on the 87. I had 1/2 tank and got .7 MPG better than normal on the rest of the tank. After I run a few tanks of 87 through it I'll get an average of how much MPG improved.

I'm running the 87 tune right now. Big difference in the truck. I had the "Death Flash", so that would be the main reason for such a difference.

And seeing as though you have an '01 also, you'd probably notice a pretty big difference. As I am assuming you have the "Death Flash" also. It doesn't make "huge" power in any of the tunes, but there are noticable differences in them. I like the 91 tune even though I have been running 93 gas for over a year. Didn't "test" the 93 tune much.

The only reason I'm running the 87 tune and not the 91 or 93 is with the plow I get a little warmer than normal running down the highway and I'll start to detonate, even with the 93 gas. Just today I got to 210 on the gauge. I don't know how accurate it really is though. And this is with a 180* stat. So, I guess I'll have to run the 87 in the winter and 91 or 93 in the summer when I don't need the plow on anymore.

Must be nice. I've dropped considerably.

But that's cuz of plowing though. This last tank I lost about 70 miles.

After a few weeks here is my current update.

I've been keeping it on the 91 tune for the past 3 or 4 weeks. I love the improvement in power! But sadly, my mileage has gone down some. Even if I stay off the pedal for a tank or two, it still isn't what it used to be. But I'm going to put some blame on the colder weather and also how HemiFever bumps up the fuel on all of the tunes. Since I have a 1996, I didn't have the death flash, therefore from stock to the 87 tune didn't seem like a big difference. I did notice the rpm shifting points were changed which is kind of nice. At WOT with the 91 tune, it shifts at around 5200 rpms instead of 4900 before. I red light raced a buddy of mine with a 1998 5.9 bone stock with 33's and destroyed him.

I also recently bought a set of 4.56's and a 52mm thottle body, all of which I have in my possession but haven't installed. I emailed HemiFever about both and he said the 52mm TB won't be a problem for the tunes, it will only help it. Then he said that with the 4.56's the tunes may become too aggressive because it is less stress on the motor. So I may need to get new tunes once I can find some shop time and get those in.

Sorry if the response is a bit scattered, but that's my current observations on what I have seen/felt so far!
