He's right about the 5w-30, here's another thread from DF. Personally, if I had an NV3500 or Nv 4500, I'd pay the extra money and get it from the dealer. It's not like it needs to be changed every 3000 miles.

I picked up royal purple synchromax manual transmission fluid today from oreillys auto parts.. Gonna sleep on it, but I think its gonna happen...

I think you"ll be fine, as long as it's not 80-90 gear oil like old school.

Wow. Learned something else on DF. I would have never thought about 5w-30 for a manual tranny. It just doesn't seem right. Never saw a light weight oil in anything else that did not use and pump to lube.
