Default Transmission fluid/oil

Hey DF,

Have a replacement transmission, not quite sure what fluid/oil to put in it. Dodge ram 1500 4x2, 5.2l, 5 spd NV3500...manuals say check with dealership...dealership has no idea...haynes says transmission fluid, but nothing specific...

I have a guy that swears that I should put in 30 weight synthetic oil...i ask for it at shops like advanced auto our auto zone and I get stared at like over lost my mind...so I reach out to you friends...what the hell goes I this thing!

My 98 FSM says,

"Required lubricant for the NV 3500 is Mopar Manual Transmission Lubricant, P/N 4761526. This is the ONLY lubricant to be used in NV3500 transmissions. No other lubricants are acceptable, or recommended.

Oh gawd. I misfired big time on that one. I just didn't register that it was a manual... and was stone cold sober at the time, too.

Must be time for a drink!

My apologies to the forum for my idiocy.

Thanks for the thought, man. It's not nearly snowy enough for me to even think about curling up to hibernate with my head up my ***. The weather that's been in the news was all over on the Front Range, on the other side of the Divide. Here we're having a remarkably mild winter so I'll just have to fess up and own my shame.
