Why a Dakota, Jason? No better fuel economy than a Ram that I've ever seen and they are even more prone to front end issues. Not to mention the smaller size. I'm not bashing Daks and are fine for a lot of people who don't need a full size truck, but I've never know a guy who had a full size truck to be happy after getting a mid/small truck. There is also no initial cost advantage, around here a good used dak is as much as an equivalent year/mileage Ram because there are just so many more Rams...

But seriously, the wife wanted to go to a movie straight from the car purchase, so it was dark and late by the time we got back.
2010 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the V8, tow package, and many other goodies. Only 14800 miles.

Pretty sure the gas mileage will be much better than the old Ram, but only about 1 MPG better, maybe, then than the newer HEMI Rams. I don't buy pickups for the gas mileage. Nevertheless, I will keep you updated.
The power is fantastic. Even with the weakened battery, she would put my old Ram to shame, I hate to say. Far more comfortable than my Ram, handling is great so far. I had a little taste of what she'd be like when driving my wife's 2006 Durango, as they share a few interior features. But wow, that revamped (they redesigned it in 2008) 4.7L V8 feels more powerful than my wife's 2006 4.7L V8, and my wife's has been tuned with a SCT, the 2010 has not. The wife's Durango and my old Ram raced once or twice on the interstate, and she could very slowly pull away up to about 50 MPH or so, then we were dead even. I couldn't believe it... electric fans, SCT tuned, CAI, better exhaust/converter, big V8, and I couldn't beat my wife's little V8. The Ram weighed about 200-400 lbs more than the Durango, but I thought with my upgrades and engine size I could whoop her. Nope.
No complaints as of yet other than the battery, which really isn't a complaint since it is getting replaced for free tomorrow.
