So what's your guys thoughts on the new dodge dart ?
I'm seriously thinking of getting one as a back up gas saver since gas will be hitting 5 buck a gallon .
I think they look nice as they have 3 motors as one is turbo charged , but I'm also hoping srt will make one with a bigger liter engine .
Also they will have a 6 speed manual and auto as they will be a fun stop and go car with 30+40 mpg !
I'm hoping this car will neat out the focas and the coballs

they look ugly. wtf is wrong with manufacturers. they bring back a name and butcher its by putting it on some piece of crap ricer. the only nice car to come back was the challenger. they are bad @$$. if manufacturers where smart they would start building more cars with late 60's early 70's style like Ford and there mustang and Dodge and there challenger. those new darts look more like dodge neon.

I can't remember what year it was but my father in law hauled an old Dodge Dart 4dr with the slant 6 off to the junk yard awhile back.
It was going to be a restoration project but with the drain on the economy it just didn't happen.
It sat in a field for a long time, he rebuilt the carburetor and the motor still ran...

Crap people. The original dart was a compact. The new dart is a compact.
90%+ of the old Darts came with 225 slant 6's, not 340's, or even 318s...
I like the new car, and I hope that it does well for Chrysler. As much as we would like things to go back to the old days, they won't. At least it is offered with a manual tranny. Not much is anymore...

but who really want to drive a car that looks like every other car on the road? the new challengers and mustang look unique and can tell what they are.
when i think dart i think of stuff like this even though it only has a slant 6

My problem with the new Dart is basically price. It was supposed to go after the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla market. A 2012 decently equipped Civic runs $15,605 and a Corolla runs $16,130 on MSRP and BOTH have an impeccable reliability history. A comparably equipped Dart is well over $20,000 and has to get over the obstacle of a less than stellar Chrysler 4 cylinder car reputation.
I thought FIAT "got it" better than previous Chrysler regimes, but I guess not...

The photo's not mine -- mine had the stock sport wheels and sat correctly, but it was otherwise this one's twin:

So if Chrysler can't do a repeat of that one, screw their resurrection of the Dart name.

I had a '73 Nova SS, 350 4bbl that I lifted the *** end of like that and put some tall, fat 60 series tires on the back of. It was the rage in the late '70s & early '80s, LOL...
I HAD some pics of it at one time, but the ex took off with ALL our photo albums, I'm sure any of mine have long since met her shredder...
