I'm starting to shop for new tires and rims. The logical starting point is to determine what my 2000 4x4 can handle. How do i find out what gears i have. Any links would be great. If i got the build sheet would that say?
Thanks

Thank you Papa G.
I just got my build sheet, and it has it. I have 3.55 ratio.
What would you guys advise for tire size and width? I have stock rear hight and a 2" leveling kit on front.
I don't need anything crazy just a bit bigger and wider would look cool.
Thanks
Jay

I wouldn't recommend anything larger than a 33" tire on 3.55:1 gears. You can run 35s on 3.55s but that's a big load to put on the drivetrain and you'll notice a sluggish ride. What size rims do you have?
right now i have the stock alum 16x7, but NEEED to buy somthing more fun. I wish I could find some American racing "Black Nuggets". I had those on a blue 1986 ram when i was a kid. they were cool.

33" tires with 3.55 gears connected to a 318 make it a slug. I know from experience.
33" tires with 4.10 gears is a much better combo.

33" tires with 3:55 and a 318 is where I am now. I want to goto 4:10s too. But, I still have the want for a cummins, so I don't want to dump the extra cash in this truck.Originally Posted by Sheriff420

Thanks for the info!!
I only leveled it out. I would just like to fill the wheel wells up a bit and maybe add some tire width.
I don't know if i want to dive into new gears??

I'd honestly do a 33" with 4.56 gears, that way if you want to up to 35" you'll already be set. And the better towing/Acceleration you'd get from the 4.56's would be awesome.
