Default Put on the Pulstars

Put them on, with a new cap and rotor. The "old" cap and rotor had only 9K miles on them but were a year and a half old. I really should not have bought the new cap and rotor.

Anyway, I was running the 93 tune and I was running extremely lean at WOT. I had better acceleration at the touch of the pedal, but heard loud pinging and saw that my AF ratio at WOT was in the 14s. This was hemifever's aggressive 93 octane tune. He sent me another one with a less aggressive timing curve, but I will try that one after the move.

SO, I went to the 91 tune and now it is down to about 13.6. I think I need to have Hemifever RAISE some of the fuel trims for 3/4 throttle and WOT.

However, this could be the PCM relearning because as I have been driving the truck, the AF ratio is going down at WOT.

There is a gain to be had in performance with the pulstar plugs, but I am also running a MSD box and coil. So, they could possibly be worthless in a stock engine.

I have to get some more driving done with these before I make a claim about them. But, so far I like what I am experiencing. These spark plugs have a lifetime warranty, so basically they are the last set of pkugs you ever need to buy. Depending on how long you have your truck, that could pay for itself.

We will see how the gas mileage is during the move. I am leaving IN for NY on thursday, so I should get to my mom's house in NJ by mothers day the latest.

I will give some updates during the move. But right now I am still leaning this way:
"They make for a good upgrade once you have done most of the bolt-on upgrades/mods and are running out of things to do that do not require getting into engine internals. Also, a high powered ignition might be necessary to unleash the true potential of these plugs."

PCM should ignore O2 sensors at large throttle openings........ should...... it should go into open loop.

that's what I thought, but before hemifever trimmed fuel, it was at around 8-10 (bottomed out at 10, but it took 2 trime before wot would be over 10:1). So it can be detuned...maybe that is what he did, he overwrote the program so it did not go into open loop.

Or MAYBE, just maybe, it could be this:
There is a "lag" with the wideband and injectors. When I let off the throttle fast and fully, the AFR jumps to 16-17 for a half a sec then goes to 14-15. Same for mashing the throttle, it goes high then goes down.

But that would not explain the ping. The AFR seems to be getting better the mode I drive the truck.
