Default What do you think of this truck?

Hellooo! This is my first thread on this forum. I've been following certain posts and such for quite a while now, I figured its time I finally sign up for it! Look forward to being a part of this.
Aaaanyways, I've been looking around for a truck. I need it mainly for towing, but to take up into the bush the odd time too. I wanted a regular cab, 3/4 ton, gas, manual, and of course 4x4.

I found this, went and looked at it, has new(ish) tires and new brakes and fired up just fine. You guys have any input? Anything specifically I should watch for?

Thanks!!!

Make sure that is not a Light Duty 3/4 ton... the 5.2 liter engine makes me wonder...... (check GVWR on the sticker on the drivers door frame. LD I think is like 7500 lbs.... not sure what that would be in kg.....)

Looks pretty clean, even under the hood. If you can, take a flashlight and a small mirror and peek down the throttle body into the intake. You are looking for oil in the rear pass side corner - sign of blown plenum gasket. (see sticky thread on main forum page)

It would not be a deal breaker, but may help work the price down some.

It was a very clean truck, I was surprised..! How's the price? $5000 basically. It's a small used carlot across from a park, wonder what the lowest he'd go on it would be...

$5000 seems a bit high to me. But I suppose it would be from the start. I'd offer him $4000 and see if he'd take it. Tell him that's all you got and if he doesn't bite, walk away. Chances are he will call you back.

Take it for atleast a good 30 minute test drive and check for any issues that might pop up. Also be sure to check the 4x4 operation.
