i don't think there is any tips or tricks. i think you have to take the steering wheel off and remove the turn signal switch. by that point you should be at switch.

i think there is one screw that goes through the turn signal cam and into the threads in the turn signal lever. i think there might also be a round clip around the center that has to be remover to get at the ignition switch after all the screws have been removed.

Well I dont have the extra 30 bucks for a Haynes right now. Im in the process of looking for a wiring diagram for the ignition right now so I can just run a push button start that will be tucked up under the dash... Ive got it most of the way apart now and the push button was mentioned and I thought "Hey thats a good idea!" lol so I will probably end up just putting it all back together and going that route.. Ive always wanted a push button anyway

THANK YOU!!! I was looking for a diagram and everyone just kept trying to explain it hahaha.. I work much better with a picture.... I will be saving that for a future reference

Looking at that diagram Im a little confused... Should I run a 2 switch setup one for power and accesory and another to actually start it? If so which way should I run the wires to the switches?

Well I did manage to get the ignition cylinder replaces.. There was a tiny little snap ring that I couldnt see due to the amount of grease on it so that is all taken care of now... Onto the next problem.. I was in the process of dropping the fuel tank and the bolts snapped.. I cant find them anywere nor can I find new straps... Not sure what route im gonna go with this... Ohh well.. I wasnt expecting it to be perfect.. Now to continue my search for new parts
