They can do some amazing things for this with options that are less invasive than surgery sometimes. Hope it works out and he makes an excellent recovery.

Well news is still looking good, he's doing good, driving everyone at the hospital crazy. He is being transferred to Fairfax, Va tomorrow, where they will do more tests, but it does look like bypass surgery is in his future.

he'll likely do very well from here on. its the heart attack itself and/or not seeing a doctor, and/or not following their instructions that's the most severe risks.

That's how we're all looking at it. Generally he hates doctors, so maybe this will have a positive impact on how it looks at them.

Got to talk to him a bit today, he is in good spirits

Update for the day, he was finally sent to Inova Fairfax Hospital today, seemed stupid that instead of taking him there from Winston Salem they sent an ambulance from Fairfax to pick him up.

Arteries are pretty clogged, 100% and 95% I'm told, triple bypass soon.

Also learned thay while my step father was first on scene he also just about forced him to go to the hospital, could have very well saved his life

Well today is the big day, they found a carotid artery in his neck, the surgeon decided to do both surgeries at the same time, they are in hour 4 now.

Thanks guys. We just got word from my grandmother that he is out of surgery. He's not awake yet, is off the bypass and still on a ventilator, he'll be eased into full awakeness throughout the night.

So it would appear everything went pretty good
