JMO, but I think a tranny temp gauge is just as important, if not more so than an oil pressure gauge. Even though the stock OP gauge sucks, it still gives you some some idea of what's going on(as long as the sending unit is ok). But there is no stock temp gauge for the tranny, only a light that might come on after it's too late.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but I figure I'd rather do this than start a new one. Plus, it's on topic!

I've already picked out my gauges (Thanks, Merc!), but right now am deciding on my a-pillar. I'm going to go with 3 gauges, plus the tweeter. Looking at various sources, the prices are all over the place. Yet, the descriptions do not lead me to really believe there is much of a difference. Obviously this can't be the case, so I put it out there for others to chime in on...

I've seen Glow Shift has them for about $30, Summitracing for about $65 and LMC for almost $90. I know the GS one goes over top of the stock pillar, what about the other two?

Thanks,
InfO.

The one from Summit that comes from Auto Meter goes over the stock pillar trim.

Pretty sure they all slip over the stock pillar when you dig deep enough on the websites. The tweeter fit on the GS pillar isn't the greatest, but it will slip in there and stay with a little patience.

That is what I am thinking... which makes the differences in price quite questionable. If LMCs is superior in production quality perhaps it is worth it, but if not... that's a $60 difference. Wow... And I can use that extra $60 for the A/F gauge I want to pick up.

take it from someone with experience...glow shift mounts suck (holds gauges loosely) but all mounts go over stock pillar..also don't use their stupid push clips to hold it in place...use some good 3M double sided tape to attach it to the stock pillar.

look at the diesel sites as well for the pillars. interiors are the same for year to year other than 2002.

you can go with over mirror triple gauge mounts as well. plenty of options for 2nd gens..

My Glow Shift gauges mounted very securely with no problmes. You may be able to get by with the adhesive to attach pod to A Pillar there, but it gets so hot here, the adhesive became gooey (how does one spell gooey?) so I had to use screws with caps at the top.

I have the piller from auto meter that I bought from summit racing. You take off the old piller and put on the new one. I love it

I also have the Autometer, fits over the org pillar cover. Nothing special, fits as it should, just a piece of plastic.
