I'm 17 and have hardly any time to do what I want to do because of work and school. And I really don't get paid enough. So if you're making money and you're fairly happy with your cash flow, shut it.

Uh, he was referring to you being happy with the outcome of what you are getting out of your job. If you are making enough money to pay your bills, save a few bucks, and have some to play with then you are doing okay. Nothing in there about money making you happy.
