Default 241dhd

My 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 (gas) The T-Case is labeled 241DHD now I was just wondering if that was factory or if that was swaped out because who I bought the truck from switched out the front end, the front end doesnt have the vaccum solenoid to engage the 4x4 or anything on it its just one solid piece and if it isnt factory is it better or not?

I know my 2500 v8 has a 241DLD, but others have a 241 DHD behind their v8's. Being an '02, your truck also never had a CAD (center axle disconnect). Count your blessings, they are extremely problematic. I would wager your truck is stock.

So how does 4x4 get engaged then? Something is amiss here. I could be wrong, but an 02 2500 is even the same 2nd gen body style and should have a d60 in front with a CAD. Does it have locking hubs?

Default 4x4

The 4 wheel drive works great I engage it with the lever inside the cab.

Zman it has a one piece passenger side axleshaft. Its a fully live axle 100% of the time.

OK, and you think that's better than having a CAD. At least as far as fuel economy goes. And yea, I know it sucks regardless.

If he wants better fuel economy he can put locking hubs on like the rest of us sit around talking about doing And then he doesn't have to deal with locking the CAD or swapping in a one piece shaft or the possibility of the access cover leaking. I see your point of view Zman, I just think the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
