Default What OEM shocks look like after 200,000 miles

As far as i can tell these are the original shocks off my 01 1500. Just changed them out today with some Monroe Sensatrac or something like that. It rides sooooo much better its ridiculous.

Of course new shocks will ride better. On a side note, it doesn't look like any of them are leaking. Which is a good thing.

Haha well duh. But these weren't "oh my shocks are going I should replace them" it was more like "hey my shocks died a fiery death a couple years ago, probably should replace them."

How do you tell if theyre leaking?

They are all dry, just rusty . Although IMHO you made a good choice going with Monroe's. I like the gas magnums a lot better. You have a life time warranty right? Can't go wrong as far as that goes.

Nah definitely can't go wrong. Why the gas magnums?

Heavier duty IMO. And I think the ride is real nice. Don't worry about it bud. You made a good choice.

Holy crap Ham Bone! lol Aside from the visible stress of life those things went through, you didn't comment on how difficult it was to remove them. Typically they are a challenge to remove especially with that level of seasons in them.

Guess you were fortunate and congrats on the new dampeners!

The only pain was the nut on top of the tower. The two front ones I got off but left the tower on. Then cut the stud off right below the nut and said forget the nut.

Otherwise it wasn't too bad. Some needed a little "motivation" but they all came out. I have no major complaints.
