Default Thinking of retiring the '97.

Yep, thinking of retiring her as the daily driver. Maintenance is catching up to me, and I just don't have the time to spend repairing/maintaining it. It's developed a slight knock and suffers from low compression. I don't think I'll be trading it in, because I f**king love the truck. It's just has issues that I don't have time to work on, nor do I have a proper place to work on it.

And test driving an '07 HEMI 1500 has a lot to do with it too. I fell in love and I want one. I'd prefer a 3rd Gen. Ram, but I'm not limited to it. Any of you guys have suggestions on cars? I'm not too up to date on the current car market, aside from the V8 Challengers I drool over but can't afford.

My next dodge will be a Cummings... That said, I have owned two Honda cars, and I don't think you can beat them. Good in gas, run forever, and have great transmissions in them. Very reliable and not really over the top expensive.

for a car - look at a honda accord or civic. i drove a civic last year for about a week. it was very comfortable to drive, had plenty of get up and go, and got 40 mpg.

my kids and in-laws have several accords. a 93, 00, three 01's. maintenance is simple and inexpensive. on these models, go with the 4 cylinder and avoid the V6. the V6 is too strong for the auto transmission.

my first car was a '95 civic 358k when i pulled the motor to swap it with something bigger. pulled the engine apart and looked brand new.

2nd car was a 99 honda prelude, stupid fast for a 4 banger. that car is the reason why i bought my truck. 225 days without a license in the same year sucks!

We have closet Honda guys here! Lol

I got the wife an 04 accord, most comfortable and smoothest riding car I ever owned. Tons of room, the mpg's are great, a very efficient car. They are built pretty damn good, IMO.

I will start by saying, 10 yrs ago I didn't properly maintain vehicles at all. My wife had a 95 civic, checked the oil, and there was none on the stick. Son of gun kept running! We had it for another 80k after that. Good cars, regardless of who makes them.

come tax time im thinking of either building a 360 to throw into the truck, or buying either a 99-00 civic si(b16 engine) or a 97-01 prelude. i miss my prelude, but it got me in waaaaaaay too much trouble. a mustang was on my list too, only because my buddy just had his 05 gt stroked to a 302, and with a 2.3 whipple he put down 457rwhp, and 417rwtq on 8psi of boost!

hondas are the way to go for mpg's if you can keep your foot out of the more powerful ones.....

Tempting, but my asking price has a lot of sentimental value figured into it.

I'm still leaning towards a 3rd Gen Ram. Those HEMIs, I love 'em. I looked at a '06 Cummins, but a diesel just isn't for me. I know nothing about them and I have no use for a diesel.

Odd that you guys brought up Honda cars. My girlfriend has a '06 Civic (1.8L) and her stepdad has a '09 Accord sedan. Both are great driving cars and I'm not above owning one myself. My girlfriend neglects hers, so I'm becoming more and more familiar with them. I'm more of a truck guy, but I do like the Accord coupes.

Thanks for the info guys. Are any of you familiar with the 3rd Gens? Not just the HEMI, but the 4.7L as well. Any major issues? I'd ask at the 3rd gen board, but frankly...I like this one more.
