Default Plenum fix coming soon!

Well Im ordering all the stuff to fix my plenum on friday. Im getting the plate on ebay and everything else on rockauto. Was curious to know if anyone had anything else I should get while I am at it.

Im ordering these parts

Double roller timing chain
plenum plate
water pump
dist. cap and rotor button
all the gaskets for everything
plugs and wires
thermostat
mobile 1 oil change
valve cover gaskets as well
o2 sensor...

I think thats my list, there might be another thing or two but I would have to check. Any other things I should change while I have it tore apart??

Add PCV as it is cheap, and often ignored. Also may want to check condition of belt and replace that if it shows wear. other than that, your list looks pretty well covered.

It had an extra belt in the tool box when I bought it so I was goin to swap it out too. I will get the pcv valve too, I never would have thought about it. What exactly does it control?

It just helps create vacuum in the intake manifold.

Also make sure when you pull off the throttle body, to really clean it and make it shine. It's gonna have alot of oil residue from the blown plenum on it. Do the same inside the intake manifold after you pull off the old plate. Just use some dish soap and warm water.

You want to get the PCV Valve from the dealership only.

Why? They'll more then likely charge 3 times as much as it's worth... I got mine at a parts store and it works perfect. Haven't noticed any difference between it and the one that was on it before, which I'm assuming was from the factory since it was the first time the motor had been touched.

Yeah I read that somewhere. Why only from the dealership? Is there something wrong with the ones on rockauto?

I got mine form dealer, and it was about the same price. That said, I have used numerous ones from local parts stores over the years without any problems.

What the PCV does is keeps the air from crankcase going to intake and not the other way around. Crankcase has to breathe.

I've read on this very forum that sometimes the aftermarket PCV Valves can have the wrong flow rate.

Dealership PCV's are cheap. I don't remember what I paid for mine, less then $10 I think....

Guess it's different in each state... I know the stealership here charges stupid money for their stuff, so that's what I was going off of.

Guess either way you go will be fine, becuase like said, mine seems to be doing fine with the auto parts pcv
