Hmmmm thats weird...my motor is a dohc...the belt wraps around the top cam pulley in the pic above...has tensioner on side and goes straight down to crank...so theres only two gears and a tensioner....wheres the other cam sproket? I think i may be able to do this...water pump is not in the cover

Do you have a manual for it? DOHC? Maybe that pulley drives tow camshafts inside the engine. Never had a Hyundai apart, so I don't know...and Hyudai forum is nearly useless.

If you are not sure, it may be best to take it to someone with experience. Getting this jacked up may cause some significant damage.

Well after some research and looking at pics of timing belts that are bad and good ive concluded mine has been done already....the amount of slack it has is normal. And since the belt is not brittle thats another sign, and lastly the fact that my belt was in great shape. So luckily i think i can hold out until i get the clutch done...i dont hot dog with it so im sure i can get another 10k out of it...

All of them I have ever done, the belts did not have slack in them...pretty snug.

Theres no slack near tensioner or on gears....its where theres a long stretch of belt where it goes from cam gear to crank....but has about a half inch of play...i can move it 1/4 forward 1/4 in backwards...not much play and theres no way to pull it up off the gears its snug there....due to its condition theres no way that it is the original belt the belt looks mint....and i dont want it to be overtightened but the videos i watched showed just about the same play when tensioner was set....ill probably bring it to my parents mechanic who ive known for 15 years and who use to be my mechanic before i started working on my own stuff....takes only 10 minutes to pull the cover so im bringing it to him thursday and ill see what he says....ill also have him drive it and see how he feels about my clutch

Well im thinking my slave has an air bubble because it was not bench bled properly....i tested my clutch a few times today....just putting it in first and slowly letting off clutch to see where it grabs....sometimes it wouldnt grab until the pedel is all the way up, but i had a few times where it would grab at 1/4 pedel from floor which is where it should be.

Never had a problem before i changed slave...it started happening 3 days after i changed it...and i was going 20mph up a hill and dumped it in 5th and gassed it....didnt slip or sputter at all just bogged out until speed built up.

Shes got an appointment thursday morning...my family mechanic is going to properly bench bleed it for me...i hope thats the problem...but i also hope im not killing my clutch driving it if it does have an air bubble

Well i had the car looked at by my familys mechanic....he took it for a ride and when he got back he told me the clutch is worn....if i baby it it may last a little while because its not slipping but he said the clutch disc definatly is on its way out...

He told me hed change the clutch for $200 if i buy my own parts....im thinkin im just gunna register and insure the truck since the sticker is good till the end of the month and do the clutch myself.....havent decided yet
